The team at the facility

The energy-from-waste facility on Lodge Lane, Great Blakenham is home to a dedicated team of energy-from-waste professionals.

Recruitment for staff to work at the facility started very early and the first four staff were in post by the end of 2012 – two years before the site was due to be operational.

A further 13 started in November 2013 – initially they were based in offices at Orion Park in Great Blakenham where they had classroom training, followed by exams. This was backed up with plenty of visits, both to the Suffolk site to follow construction and to other SITA UK sites to see operational facilities and learn from the teams running them.

By the end of the year, a further 16 technicians had been appointed, ready to start work early in 2014, when recruitment for the final staff began.

Most of the team at the facility live in Suffolk, with a few coming from the neighboroughing counties of Essex and Norfolk.

In all, the facility employs 44 staff, plus two apprentices. Five SITA UK staff, with wider regional roles, are also based here.
