Our team in Suffolk

Our team in Suffolk is made up of over 50 people in roles ranging from operations, engineering, maintenance and administration to health and safety.

Here’s some information about a few of them:

John Tatton

Plant Manager

John joined SUEZ in 2013 and has worked both as a technical plant engineer and a maintenance manager, before taking up his current role as plant manager in 2020.

Previously, he spent 24 years in the British Army. After starting as an apprentice tradesman aged 16, he served in the UK, US, Yugoslavia and Afghanistan, where he also worked as an aircraft engineer, engineering manager and quality manager.

He was born in Stoke-on-Trent and moved to Suffolk in 1996 on posting. He enjoys football so much that he became a FA level 1 coach and coaches the Stowmarket U10 team.

Colin Forrester

Operations Manager

Colin joined SUEZ in 2013 from Amey Cespa where he was the Operations Manager at their materials recycling facility in Cambridge. His career began with a mechanical engineering apprenticeship in the quarrying industry. Colin then went on to become a quarry and landfill manager, followed by MRF Plant Manager for Newport Paper in Norfolk.

Colin is originally from Staffordshire and has lived in Suffolk for over 20 years. As well as enjoying family life, he is a keen runner who competes in veterans' races and has completed his first half-marathon.

James Clarke

Maintenance Manager

Jim joined SUEZ in December 2010 as a graduate engineer following his graduation from the University of Sheffield with a master’s in chemical engineering. He moved into operations following the completion of the graduate scheme, progressing to a shift manager at the Suffolk facility in 2014. From there he moved into the site technical plant engineer role and then a senior engineer role supporting all SUEZ’s southern sites before taking on the maintenance manager role in Suffolk.

Born and raised in Bury St Edmunds. He is a keen traveler and spent three months in South and Central America on his honeymoon.

Robert Taylor

Technical Plant Engineer

Rob joined SUEZ in 2019 as Technical Plant Engineer at the Suffolk energy-from-waste facility. Rob graduated with MEng in Chemical and Process Engineering and has over 15 years’ experience working within the thermal power generation industry. Previously, Rob has been involved with the design and installation of power plant projects both in the UK and internationally.

Oliver Morrall

Community Liaison Manager

Oliver joined SUEZ in 2018 after completing an industry placement with SUEZ in Cornwall as part of his university studies.

Originally from Dorset, Oliver holds an undergraduate degree in Geography and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Environmental Management from Plymouth University. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking and exploring the countryside that Suffolk has to offer.
