Our team in Suffolk

Our team in Suffolk is made up of over 50 people in roles ranging from operations, engineering, maintenance and administration to health and safety.

Here’s some information about a few of them:

Paul Newby

Plant Manager

Paul joined SUEZ in 2018 as plant manager at Suffolk energy-from-waste facility. He began his career 32 years earlier as a marine engineering mechanic in the Royal Navy and has since successfully worked his way up through the marine engineering and power generation fields.

Raised in Lincolnshire, Paul is now based in Suffolk with his wife and enjoys spending his free time on the Norfolk Broads with his grandchildren.

Colin Forrester

Operations Manager

Colin joined SUEZ in 2013 from Amey Cespa where he was the Operations Manager at their materials recycling facility in Cambridge. His career began with a mechanical engineering apprenticeship in the quarrying industry. Colin then went on to become a quarry and landfill manager, followed by MRF Plant Manager for Newport Paper in Norfolk.

Colin is originally from Staffordshire and has lived in Suffolk for over 20 years. As well as enjoying family life, he is a keen runner who competes in veterans' races and has completed his first half-marathon.

John Tatton

Maintenance Manager

John took up his current role as Maintenance Manager in 2016, after joining SUEZ in 2013 as a technical plant engineer. Before this, he spent 24 years in the British Army. After starting as an apprentice tradesman aged 16, he served in the UK, US, Yugoslavia and Afghanistan, and worked as an aircraft engineer, engineering manager and quality manager.

John was born in Stoke-on-Trent and moved to Suffolk in 1996 on posting. He enjoys football so much that he became a FA level 1 coach and coaches the Stowmarket U10 team.

Emily Pike

SHEQ Advisor

Emily moved into the SHEQ advisor role after completing her degree in Environmental Studies through the Open University.

Emily joined us in 2014 as the facility’s Community Liaison Manager, after working in the waste industry for a private waste company and Ipswich Borough Council.

Robert Taylor

Technical Plant Engineer

Rob joined SUEZ in 2019 as Technical Plant Engineer at the Suffolk energy-from-waste facility. Rob graduated with MEng in Chemical and Process Engineering and has over 15 years’ experience working within the thermal power generation industry. Previously, Rob has been involved with the design and installation of power plant projects both in the UK and internationally.

Oliver Morrall

Community Liaison Manager

Oliver joined SUEZ in 2018 after completing an industry placement with SUEZ in Cornwall as part of his university studies.

Originally from Dorset, Oliver holds an undergraduate degree in Geography and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Environmental Management from Plymouth University. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking and exploring the countryside that Suffolk has to offer.
